On Saturday, May 16, 2009 more than 80 family, friends, faculty, advisory board members, and other distinguished guests attended the Center’s eighth recognition ceremony.
Guest speaker Barbara Kohn ’72, Connecticut College Board of Trustees chair and long time supporter of the center, was also a member of the first class of human ecology majors, a pre-cursor to the environmental studies program here at Connecticut College. In her remarks, Ms. Kohn exhorted the students: "Do not be silent about the things that matter."
In addition to their certificates, each student received a gift of a recycled glass paperweight inscribed with these words by Richard H. Goodwin: "The world has need of those who deeply care."
